The Model 230 is a 9-seater multi-purpose heli-copter made by the Bell Helicopter company TEXTRON,
and was developed to be the successor to the renowned Type 222. Powered by two Allison 250 C-30
G/2 turbines, each rated at 700 BHP take-off power, this helicopter can attain a maximum service altitude
of 4500 m at a maximum take-off weight of 3.8 tons, and is capable of 228 km/hr top cruise speed. Our
version is a semi-scale model drawn to a scale of 1:8.1 and can, like the full-size, be built in either of two
variants: with fixed skid landing gear or with a retractable tricycle undercarriage. The seamless white pigmented
GRP fuselage features machine-cut windows and other openings and the front upper opening is large enough
to accept the UNI-EXPERT MECHANICS or UNI MECHANICS 2000 mechanical system completely
assembled (including tuned pipe silencer); the assembly is attached to the fuselage floor by means of four
screws and braced at the top at two further attachment points. The standard tail rotor drive system is based
on a 2 mm Ø piano wire shaft. The tail rotor linkage consists of a cantilever CFRP pushrod. The mechanically
operated retractable undercarriage is available under Order No. 4459.4. A standard (low-cost) servo is used
to operate each undercarriage leg; a system which keeps set-up and adjustment simple. The top fuselage fairing,
the fuselage tail section and the main fuselage are all supplied as GRP mouldings with a high-quality gloss white
surface, and this means that you can obtain an attractive finish just by painting on the contrast colours and
applying the decal set. The motor is started from above using the hexagon starter adaptor with freewheel,
Order No. 1621.
