Here we move onto the Fin construction... you can follow the instructions and build it as standard and it will work just fine.
Or.... you can do this and have a scale folding fin that will allow you that extra room when transported the ship.
I start off by making a bulkhead for the fin, drilling holes for the Graupner mini hiem joints(which we also stock) and bolting
them in where the extra backup plates are...1/8" ply is used. I use 3/8" "T" brass cut into small sections, I drill them before cutting
them . 2mm bolts countersunk slightly and also countsink the mounting point a bit (i use a dremel wheel here). Bolts go clean
though the doubled up section here to nuts countersunk into the skin below. The balse spar reinforcement is two 1/8 strips
of ply with one extra on the side of the bracket, which is 100 mm from the inside edge of the fin.

Bolts countersunk and filled. This is how your seam should look before gluing.

TTaped up and ready to drop thin CA into it via two holes (which I will fill later with an end plate) . All done and sanded.

I use tabs on the body too... one for fin, two for lower attachment . Line up hiem joints and make these marks , then cut
with a hotknife.

TTabs get glued in with JB weld and then backed up with a strip of ply inside later . 2 mm bolts with locknunts secure the
fin and allow to FOLD once the strut is released... how? coming up next......

This massive stab can now FOLD leaving room during transport or storage.More to come... we just ran our turbine unit and its awesome!
