bay. Here we can see the rear fin mounts added to fin. This area gets sanded
then BEFORE we glue these to fin, we bolt them
up to the prepared tail flange below, shape and fit the fin just right
so there is no fouling in the fit... then drop
a few drops of CA to the rear area of fin where the bulkhead is and hit
it
with some kicker so you dont accidentally glue
the boom and fin together! Remove the bolt via the taillight hole
and then finish glueing the inside. We want the
frontal area to fit flush as it was when it was bolted up. The rear
bulkheads are glued together BEFORE they are
test fit to boom. Pushrod clearance is cut and shown here as well.

Here you can see how the boom flange was
ground in preparation for this step...now the fin fits very tightly and
quite strong without using small
outer screws! The 10 mm hole for taillight is left a snug fit for easy
removal when
access is needed. I will keep some slack in the
taillight wires for this in the future.

Other than the final gluing of the driveshaft,
we are coming to a close in the initial construction process...so we
are down the carbon tail rotor pushrod. First
pic is the tail rotor end, second has a slight bend so the rod does
not foul the sides of the inner boom on the mech
end. Make sure you you grind and clean these ends before
gluing on the 2.5mm metal rods.

Next up, lighting installation.. here I
drilled two 3/16" hole
in preparation for wires to pass from fins to
front of heli.
I will be using custom made Maxx Lights for
this install.
There will be a white taillight, a red strobe
on top of fin,
green and red nav lights on horz. stabs, a white
strobe
on the bottom of belly, a red strobe on doghouse
and two
white headlights in the nose....Should be impressive!
