Mechanics:

....
The mechanics are supplied pre-assembled but you will have to custom make your control rods. Depending on which
of type of rotor head used (Vario 12mm benzin head shown), this will determine over all rod length. In all cases, use 3mm
rods from bell cranks to swashplate and 2.5mm rods from bellcranks to servos. We use Rocket-City brand links, but Vario
will also do. You will also have to locate and drill four 3mm holes in the shaft support for the carbon fiber upper mechanic
brace which attaches to upper wood section in the fuselage. It is best to have the mechs bolted in place for this procedure
to ensure that everything lines up, you can also locate the holes in the woodwork at the same time for the brace.

......
Servo leads are covered and tied to relieve stress on them. We use push-pull in all controls to swashplate for
extra strength and control response. You may depending on the control horns used, need to shorten the arms
on the two of the servos to fit. You want to match the distance between balls on the bellcranks to the balls on the
horns as much as possible. We start with pitch range from 1 degree positive at low stick to 18 degrees positive
at high stick. 9- 9.5 at hover.
Setting the turbine gear mesh is done by inserting a thin piece of paper between gears then tightening the bolts.
There should a very slight noticable play between gears .5mm  approx.

Tail drive:

......
This is relatively simple installation as there is no angle gearbox used. The tail rotor is a 7mm output shaft for
the extra length needed to fit the tail fin pod with a very robust four blade hub and pitch mechanism. It only
wieghs 10 extra grams over a standard gearbox! The flex shaft is comprised of the the shaft itself, the housing and
the outer thin-wall alu tube skin. The coulplers each have 6 -4mm set screws to secure the shafts to coupler and
mechanic/ gearboxeEach end of the alu-skin is attached to it's appropriate bulkhead via a 10mm split collar which
gets cross bolted into place. Pictured here is the bend you will put into it. The cable gets greased with black carbon
grease and requires very little maintenence. We mount up the front portion first then adjust the bend(s) to reach the
tail box once the box is in position finally. That is it! simple, light and reliable.
It will be nessacary to slightly sand the inner housing to slide into in the alu case (with some silicone oil) then
you can apply the bend into the tube. The part that dips down will get glued to a ply plate in the boom.
More on this coming up in the next page.

......
Once you have the correct length of shaft, round off the end as shown for a nice fit into the couplers. The tail
pitch change system is comprised of a 3mm short carbon rod , a 6mm long carbon rod with 2.5mm pushrod
stubs sanded and glued into place using  "JB-Weld" type epoxy. A ballraced bellcrank mounts in the carbon
fiber bulkhead group in the lower portion of the tail. Access to all of this is made via the tail cap.
