E.C.U. bay created between rails and reciever
bay just in front. I chose to put switches here to keep things
less cluttered. Also shown here is the Turbine
condition L.E.D. and fuel overflow mounted in the belly.
More to come soon...tail drive, etc...first I
will paint inside after I remove all the dry fit component parts.
Wood gets sealed with thin CA glue, sanded, then
we paint with two part urethane paint.
We are going to skip ahead to some of the finishing
techniques before the tail drive is installed...but you may chose
to install everything before proceding to painting.
We just chose to do it this way due to schedule constraints.
......
Here is what it takes to spray the inside
neatly.Door openings must remain open to keep paint from blowing back
at you while spraying. The finished product is
shown here... a little prep work goes a long way and the extra sanding
after the thin CA was applied to the wood was
well worth it.
.....
To finish the outer skin, we tape off everything
from the inside using high quality automotive grade masking tape.
It also helps to make up some fixtures to hold
parts while spraying them. The entire body is sanded with 220 grit,
primed and then finished with 600 grit to accept
colors. Once all the color is on, we sand with 800-1000 grit to
prep for clear coat. Different finishes require
different sequences so consult your paint supplier before painting
or contact us at 352-371-3132 or e-mail info@scalejet.com.
Now we move
on to mechanics and tail drive layouts/procedures...
