Radio Equipment layout:
......
Before the mechs go in for the last time, now
you can install the tail rotor mount. Very simple and easy to install
with some long 3mm bolts going the through the
rails. The 2.5mm rod get glued into the carbon rod with JB weld.
Make sure you scuff the rod for gluing into the
carbon shaft.
......
It is a good idea to insulate the driveshaft
tube just for extra precautions against heat... thermoflex works great
for this.
This pretty much wraps up the build with some
minor details you would check and make sure of such as secure
radio gear, fuel tanks, set-up and overall check
out for operations. We will get into final details next and the first run-ups
will done on the ground, blades off to insure
that we have everything right. We also want a clean heli inside such
as no loose wires, debris or stray bolts which
could be ingested by the turbine.
In the meantime, no V-East or ScaleJet build-up
would be complete without an appearance of our beloved Jet-Cat!
Jodi looks on to say " well, we've done it again...what
did you expect?! ".
......
Fuel tanks:
..
We use 1/8" music wire to form hold-downs
for fuel tanks. Graupner 10 mm foam is used to pad tank
compartments while large silicone tubing covers
the wire hold-downs. A 1/8" hole in the wood catches
the 90 degree bend on one side of the hold-down,
while a 2.9mm screw holds down the other side to lock it
all in. Use teflon tape to seal tank caps and
PFM glue to seal fittings on the top of tanks. This works best to
resist the Jet-A fuel.
......
Other side of hold-down can be seen here... Our
turbine awaits the final design of the exhaust system which
will be installed soon!
